Unforgettable adventures

You will be driven in comfortable, air conditioned 4x4s through stunningly beautiful countryside - rainforest, savannah, eucalyptus woods, volcanoes, national parks, tea and coffee plantations.

You can mix lakeside lounging with challenging hill-walking or white water rafting. You can root around at the local markets or take tours of capital cities, visit cultural centres, museums and royal palaces. Or you can simply chill by a hotel pool for a day or two before making a gentle, chauffeur driven trip to chill beside the next hotel pool with a different, equally stunning view.

For the seriously keen or professional, we arrange personal guides specialising in indigenous birds, plants or primates.

Our guide/drivers are all very experienced in tourism. They are multi-lingual and charming. They like their work. They like meeting new people. They like sustainable tourism - which is what we do.

East Africa destinations

We specialise in Rwanda, Uganda and Burundi and have very good and reliable links with guides in the whole of East Africa. We work with them to ensure a flawless transition from country to country if you wish to travel elsewhere in East Africa: Tanzania, DRC, Kenya, Madagascar…

Now is the time to visit the lesser known countries of East Africa where political stability has heralded a growth in tourism. Young enough to exude all the enthusiasm and freshness of a developing industry, there is much to commend the safe and controlled infrastructure of ethical tourism which is making this region an increasingly popular holiday destination.

Come now before it gets too busy!

Cost

The East Africa Tour and Safari Company has cut out the middleman: Our high standard holidays are booked direct and at local ground rates. We market our business mainly through networking, avoiding advertising and many of the usual overheads. Our prices are realistic and affordable. Accommodation can be budget, standard, luxury or a mixture.

Useful Info

  • Wifi/network is available most places you go.
  • Conference facilities in many hotels and lodges are excellent.
  • Regional food is very tasty and local alcohol is very drinkable.
  • Bring your own music to play in our jeeps.
  • Pack a spare cell phone and buy a local sim card for cheaper calls and texts.
  • Never be put off visiting in the rainy season: it is exceptionally quiet and relaxed at this time, the countryside is lush and fresh and the rain generally comes while you sleep.
  • Women shouldn’t wear short shorts.
  • Paying on plastic is rarely available — use local currency or $US.

Our company donates monthly to the following local charities:

The Nayokhramah Orphanage, Bujumbura, Burundi
Children orphaned by war and AIDS are housed and cared for by a group of citizens who dedicate their spare time to raising money to look after them. There is NO state help at all. The children can only eat once a day – rice and dried beans. They live in desperate conditions - but it’s better than the street. One new born baby was found in a bag of charcoal and another was rescued from a river. By living together these children feel a sense of belonging. They are truly lovely children and the volunteers – poor themselves – are utterly amazing in their selflessness. A very worthy recipient of a percentage of our profits.

BADO Disabled Association, Kigali, Rwanda
Disabled people do not receive any state aid. They cannot compete for work against the able bodied as they are forced to beg on the streets to pay for rent and food. This group raises money to help them. One lady is so crippled she is bent in half – she walks on her hands and with the use of only one leg. This has to be one of the biggest humiliations for a human being. She needs a wheelchair. We are contributing to this association to help her and others like her to regain their lives.
